A Libertarian congressional candidate plans to join a group of peace activists when they visit Ron Kind’s La Crosse office this afternoon.
Kevin Barrett is one of two Libertarians running against the La Crosse Democrat. He will face Ben Olson III of Wisconsin Dells in a Sept. 9 primary.
Barrett said today he would join the peace activists, who are in La Crosse as they walk to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul on what they call a nonpartisan protest of the war in Iraq.
The peace walkers planned to go to Kind’s office in the Exchange Building on Fifth Avenue at 4:30 p.m. in hopes of meeting with the incumbent congressman.
Barrett of Lone Rock is a lecturer at UW-Madison who has been an outspoken 9/11 conspiracy theorist. He calls himself “the peace candidate” and has decried Kind’s votes to fund the war.
