The field of candidates for the 91st and 92nd Assembly Districts will be narrowed after voters take to the polls for the Sept. 9 primary election.
Most Jackson County residents will be voting for the 92nd Assembly race — which includes almost all the county and portions of Eau Claire, Clark and Monroe counties.
The primary will decide which Democratic candidate — Mark Radcliffe, a Black River Falls attorney, and Curtis Miller, a pastor and chaplain from Sparta — will take on Republican Dan Hellman in the November election. Twenty-four-year GOP Rep. Terry Musser, Black River Falls, is not seeking re-election.
The primary for the 91st Assembly District will whittle 10 candidates to four. The district mainly covers Buffalo and Trempealeau counties, but does include parts of Pepin, Pierce and Jackson counties — including the village of Taylor and the town of Springfield.
The primary race will feature six Democrats — Marge Baecker, Steve Boe, Remy Ceci, Chris Danou, John Kimmel and Jim Kraft — as well as Republicans David Anderson and Dave Hegenbarth.
The top vote-getter from each party will face off against Libertarian Ted Burleson and independent Paul Beseler in November. Barbara Gronemus, D-Whitehall, who represented the district since 1982, is retiring.

Also on the primary ballot for area voters will be a 3rd Congressional District showdown between Libertarian candidates Kevin Barrett, of Lone Rock, and Ben Olson III, of Wisconsin Dells. The winner will take on incumbent Democrat Ron Kind and Republican challenger Paul Stark, of Eau Claire.
