The Melrose-Mindoro boys cross country team came in fourth place out of six teams at the Cashton Early Bird on Aug. 29 while the Lady Mustangs took sixth.

Senior Ben Rodenberg paced the Mustang men by coming in 16th with a time of 19:25.68. However, because La Cross Central did not compete for awards, Rodenberg was pushed up to ninth place for awards medals.

Senior Anthony Stelter took 26th (20:14.28), sophomore Vernon Ramsey took 49th (21:51.56), sophomore Ian Montalvo came in 53rd (22:05.79), sophomore Tony Morabito was 56th (22:22.77), senior Lars Grinde was 66th (23:19.60) and sophomore Montana Sbraggia took 69th (23:33.89).

For the Mustang girls, Brittany Pfaff paced the team with a 21st-place finish in 19:04.77.

Mel-Min juniors Jamie Pfaff (19:57.27) and Jessica Hubbard (19:57.89) came in 35th and 36th, respectively. Also, sophomore Samantha Rodenberg was 44th (20:21.55), senior Bailey Jolivette was 58th (22:17.08) and sophomore Candace Anderson came in 70th (27:20.97).

Viroqua won both the girls and boys meets.

Mel-Min will next run at the Cochrane-Fountain City Brone Invite Sept. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
