One of the three suspects arrested last month for breaking into several businesses in Alma Center and Black River Falls has been cleared of all charges related to the incident.
Corey L. Sprinkle, 22, of Black River Falls, was cleared of all charges shortly after his arrest last month. Tim Nichols, detective with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, said that while Sprinkle acknowledged in interviews before and after his arrest that he knew about the burglaries, his involvement in the case was just “not there.”
Sprinkle, as well as Mikel J. Koller, 20, of Black River Falls, and Dustin C. Baskin, 23, of Glenwood City, were arrested in early August. The three were allegedly involved in nearly a dozen burglaries in Alma Center and Black River Falls last June.
Baskin is currently in Jackson County jail and Koller is being held in Dane County on charges separate from this incident. Nichols said the sheriff’s department is still waiting for official confirmation that the DNA at the scene is that of the remaining two suspects.
