SPARTA — The Sparta Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff's Department announced today the pending release of a sex offender in Sparta.

Raymond D. Damouth is scheduled for release back into the community Oct. 14. Upon his release, Damouth will temporarily reside at 101½ S. Water St. It is expected that Damouth will reside at this location for about a month, after which it is anticipated that he will have secured employment and appropriate housing.

Damouth is a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. The offense that required registration with the Sex Offender Registry was first-degree sexual assault of a child. The victim in this case was a minor female acquaintance, age 12. Damouth has a prior conviction for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan. Upon his release, he will be under supervision by the Wisconsin Division of Community Corrections and will be required to comply with all rules of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.

"This sex offender is not wanted by the police at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public," authorities said in a press release.

" Obviously that is a nice sentiment. Unfortunately, thanks to the pro-choice people, it is also just wishful thinking. "

" ...who the h*** is using my word "hamburger?!?!" That wasn't me!! I didn't even post on this article even though this guy is also a hamburger!! "

" All you angry people writing in here can just stop your senseless bickering, take a little breath, and give a call to the probation and parole agent who is supervising this sex offender. Try taking a look at how the State of Wisconsin intends to keep our communities safe with this particular guy running around in it. Hamburger shmamburger. "

" When others' rights are at stake - and particularly when their very lives are at stake - any decent society can and must restrict the individual's freedom of choice. "

" I like your strategy of ignoring people by posting about them repeatedly. Very ingenious. "

Hamburger wrote on Oct 7, 2008 2:36 PM:

" Evidently we need to ignore idiots who insist on referring to people as "hamburgers" over and over and over and over and over as well! Get a life! "

To Re Tolerance wrote on Oct 3, 2008 3:56 PM:

" And by ignoring him, you mean writing about him. Good one, you hamburger. I for one find the comments of "tolerance" refreshing. Sort of a break from everyone bashing everyone else. "

Re Tolerance wrote on Oct 3, 2008 3:52 PM:

" I guess these days if you advocate tolerance for others, you are labeled as "troubled". That is really unfortunate. "

Re Tolerance wrote on Oct 3, 2008 12:31 PM:

" Folks, the best way to deal with someone like Tolerance is to completely ignore him. If you stop responding to his garbage, eventually he'll realize he no longer has an audience and will go away. "

To Dear Tolerance wrote on Oct 3, 2008 9:06 AM:

" I agree, I think tolerance is troubled and uses his comments to not look at him/herself. "

Glad I dont live in Sparta wrote on Oct 3, 2008 9:01 AM:

" How do they decide where a sex offender should be released? Was this guy from Sparta? Tolerance I'm so sick of your comments. "

Dear Tolerance needed wrote on Oct 3, 2008 7:32 AM:

" Does this sarcasm and concern about the behavior of others help you not look at yourself? You come across as troubled. "

Tolerance Needed wrote on Oct 2, 2008 9:05 AM:

" Come on folks, this won't be so bad. We just have to remember that he merely practices an alternative lifestyle that we must be more tolerant of. We must not impose our morality on him or infringe on his right to choose. "
