BLACK RIVER FALLS — The ex-husband of Alisha Sidie is expected to be charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of the 27-year-old Hatfield woman, authorities said today.
Her body was found late Saturday in a wooded area in the town of Komensky in northeast Jackson County, outside an area that had been the focus of search efforts since Sidie went missing late Nov. 7.
Authorities said today someone stepped forward with key information in the case, leading them to re-interview her ex-husband, Doug Sidie, on Saturday.
He then showed investigators the general location of Alisha Sidie’s body, Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera said today during a press conference in Black River Falls.
A bloodhound led authorities to the body, Waldera said.
The manner of death was not revealed pending an autopsy, which was expected to be completed later today.
Doug Sidie now is cooperating with investigators, Waldera said, and no one else is considered a suspect in the death.
Doug Sidie, 39, had reported his ex-wife as missing Nov. 8, saying she had walked away the night before from the Hatfield home they still shared after an argument.
The two had divorced but reportedly were reconciling, the sheriff’s department said last week.
Alisha Sidie’s family members had said it was unlikely she would leave behind the couple’s 2-year-old twin sons.
Scores of family, friends, volunteers and law enforcement had combed the heavily wooded Hatfield area in northeastern Jackson County daily earlier in the week but found no trace of Sidie.
Though the search shifted to a law enforcement-driven operation Thursday, no new developments were reported until Saturday.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Dive Team also had located items connected with the case in a body of water in Black River Falls, which aided the investigation, according to the sheriff’s department.
A criminal complaint is expected to be filed in the next few days in Jackson County Circuit Court. Doug Sidie likely also will be charged with concealing a corpse and obstructing officers, said Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox.
