A Levis Creek Forest Products building was damaged in a fire Saturday morning.
The Black River Falls Fire Department was sent to the West Bauer Road business at 8:23 a.m. on Dec. 13. Upon arrival, the fire department encountered fire coming out of a loading dock overhead door and smoke coming from the roof eaves around the entire building.
There were no injuries reported, although the metal building sustained moderate to heavy heat damage. However, firefighters were able to save the building and a majority of its contents including machinery, equipment, and forest products.
The fire remains under investigation.
The Hixton Fire Department and the Merrillan Fire Department also responded to the scene. A total of 20 firefighters were on scene for nearly five hours.
Also assisting at the scene were the Black River Falls Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Black River Falls Emergency Medical Service and the American Red Cross.
The building was insured, but the total amount of damage is still unknown.
